Lindsay Nakaishi, MD, MPH

Biography

Dr. Nakaishi obtained her Bachelor’s of Science at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. She then obtained her Master’s in Public Health at West Virginia University School of Public Health in her hometown of Morgantown, West Virginia and is a member of the Gamma Mu Chapter of Delta Omega Honorary Society. Her research and public health work prior to medical school focused on eliminating health disparities in specific vulnerable populations. At Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and Johns Hopkins University, she led a National Institutes of Health-funded RO1 project investigating workplace violence perpetrated by patients against caregivers. For the OHSU Center for Excellence in Women’s Health, Dr. Nakaishi helped increase access to cervical cancer screening for uninsured patients. As a work incentives specialist at the West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities, she traveled throughout West Virginia striving to eliminate barriers to independent living for persons with disabilities through education programs.

She attended West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed her residency at UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency and served as Co-Chief in her final year. During her residency, she participated in the Global Health Track where she implemented the Community Oriented Primary Care Model to develop a sustainable intervention to address depression in rural Honduras. After residency, as a full-time faculty, she  completed Fellowship Training in the UPMC St. Margaret’s Faculty Development Fellowship in Pittsburgh, PA. She has a particular interest in teaching and building resident skills Lifestyle Medicine, Healthcare Provider Wellbeing, Motivational Interviewing, Addiction Medicine, and LGBTQ+ care.

Dr. Nakaishi loves exploring the world with her husband and her greatest joy, her son. She enjoys traveling to visit friends and family, painting, singing (in the car, when only husband and son have to listen), and nearly all things cat-related.
