Rebecca Shisler joined the Department of Family Medicine in January 2025. She is a mixed methods social scientist, with a particular focus on qualitative and participatory research methods. Rebecca supports a variety of projects across the department, and in previous roles has worked on multi-disciplinary projects on food security among university students, experiences of low-income people during COVID-19 lockdowns, and more.
She received her bachelor's degree from Baldwin Wallace University, and her M.A. in sociology from Colorado State University. She is a sociology PhD Candidate at North Carolina State University. Her research interests are around health, food systems, and the human dimensions of the environment and nature. She looks forward to connecting with folks across the department for their social science and human-centered research needs!
